Subject: DGSHS Debate, Coaching Opportunity
Unfortunately, Downers Grove South's debate coach is retiring at the end
of the year, and currently has no successor. Although two assistant
coaches will begin next year, they are not yet ready to take full charge
of a debate team, and lack the experience necessary to become head
coaches.
Downers Grove South is a large high school of over 3,000 students located
not far to the west of Chicago. The school has previously been highly
competitive and won the 1988 TOC, but recently has declined as our coach
became less and less committed to the team.
There will be some traveling involved; currently DGS attends only 12
tournaments in a normal year. We are looking for someone with at
least three to four years with involvement in debate.
