The Lakeland Central Schools, Shrub Oak, New York, is seeking a debate
coach beginning the 1998-99 school year.
This position is linked to a full-time teaching position in history or
English.
The school district will pay for some years of experience and all
years of education beyond the BA. The individual applying for the
position should be certified (with student teaching and all necessary
education courses), or should be in the process of being certified.

academic strengths of the applicant.
The Lakeland Central Schools are located in Northern Westchester
County, approx. one hour from Times Square.
The high school program supports 1,800 students on two campuses,

Lakeland has fielded a debate team for nearly 35 years, and has
consistently produced quality teams. The school district has its own
transportation department (busses), and offers a reasonable budget for
travel beyond bus range.
There will approx. 24 policy debaters and five Lincoln-Douglas
debaters returning in 1998-99, all of whom as ninth or tenth graders.
