Subject: Columbia Tournament

Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to announce the 2001 Columbia National H.S. Forensics/Debate
Invitational is scheduled for January 20-21, 2001. This year, we are expanding our
tournament to include Varsity & Junior Varsity Lincoln-Douglas and Policy Debate.
We will also feature Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Oral Interpretation,
Dramatic Interpretation, Humerous Interpretation, Duo Interpretation and Oratorical
Declamation.

We are already receiving inquiries from schools all over the east coast as this is
promising to be quite a large tournament. I strongly encourage you to come to New
York City, the home of the 2001 CFL Nationals, on this three day weekend with no SAT
conflicts!

We plan on sending out our official invitation in the coming weeks, and it will
include all the relevent information including costs, specific rules, lodging,
directions, preregistration information, etc. To ensure that you are on our mailing
list or if you have any other questions about the tournament, please contact us at
our official tournament email address: columbia-tournament@usa.net. I also suggest
consulting our website at http://www.columbia.edu/cu/debate. Click on the "Events"
tab and then the "High School Tournament" link to find the site. It will be updated
as soon as the invitation is finalized.

We look forward to seeing everyone at Columbia in January!

Sincerely,

Matt McMillan & Joe Lyons
2001 Tournament Directors

P.S. This event is sponsored by the Columbia Parliamentary Debate Team with the
Policy portion sponsored by the Columbia Policy Debate Union and their coach, Mr.
Joe Patrice.
