Subject: Evanston Tournament
Dear Coaches:
After years^Ò recess, Evanston High School is excited
to extend an invitation to our 9th Dead President^Òs
Invitational Debate Tournament to be held on February
9th and 10th. The basics are as follows:
DIVISIONS: Policy ^Ö Varsity, J.V., and Novice
Lincoln-Douglass ^Ö Open
Bring as many teams as you so desire; there are no
entry limits.
JUDGES: One per two policy teams: one per three L-D
teams. Judges will be responsible for one round past
your best team^Òs advancement. Judges for hire are
extremely limited in availability and thus will cost
$100 per twosome. If we have to cover missing judges,
fees will be due at that time: no billing.
FEES: $35.00 per policy team. $25.00 per
Lincoln-Douglass entry. Make checks to Richard
Dempsey (SS# 261 96 5016)
POWER MATCHING: Rounds 3-5 will be power matched,
high-high within brackets.
ELIMINATIONS AND AWARDS: All divisions will break to
Quarterfinals. All quarterfinalists and top five
speakers will receive awards.
BEHAVIOR: Coaches^Ò are responsible for the behavior
of their judges and students. We operate under a
strict behavior code imposed by our administration.
It is your responsibility to inform all members of
your party of tournament regulations. Penalties will
include potential expulsion of all entries from your
school. Please remember:
^Õ Evanston will be holding ACT testing in the building
as well during the tournament. Please be quiet and
respectful in the hallways.
^Õ Evanston is a smoke-free environment ^Ö no
exceptions. Those in violation are liable to be
expelled from the campus by high school security
staff.
^Õ Do not enter rooms that were not designated for
tournament use. Please do not remove items from rooms
for any reason.
^Õ Please report any accidents or incidents to the
tournament director immediately.
^Õ Food will be sold. You may leave the building
during breaks ^Ö be back on time or forfeit the next
round. DO NOT bring outside food in the building.
This includes during elimination rounds.
