Subject: GEORGETOWN DAY SCHOOL INVITATION
Dear Friends,
You are cordially invited to attend the 11th annual Georgetown Day High
School Debate Invitational to be held on October 27-29,2000. Please note that
an unavoidable conflict with religious days of observation required the
change in tournament dates for this year only. We expect to return to our
usual weekend next year.
Format: There will be 7 prelim rounds of varsity debate on this year's high
school resolution. The top 16 teams will advance to elim rounds. Time limits
will be 8-3-5 with 10 minutes prep per side. The first 2 preliminary rounds
will be random paired. All other rounds will be paired high/low within
brackets with the even rounds featuring side constraints.
Entries: We are limited to a total of 64 teams. If you desire to send more
than two teams please return your entry as soon as possible, but in no event
later than October 18,2000. Make no travel arrangements until you have
recieved confirmation of your entry. You may register by fax at
(301)681-3061 or e-mail at jdgentile5@aol.com or by regular mail. For

Fees: The entry fee is $65.00 per team. In addition each school will be
charged a $10.00 school fee regardless of the number of teams entered. You
may hire judges at $80.00 per judge per 1/2 judge.
TOC: GDS is a quarters qualifier for the Tournament of Champions.
Awards: Awards will be given to teh top 17 teams and the top 20 speakers. The
top speaker will recieve the Kacey Wolmer Award.
Food: Modestly priced fare will be available trhoughout the tournament.
Participants are expected to remain on school grounds.
Housing: We will house students from schools outside the Washington area.
Please indicate your housing needs as soon as possible, especially if you are
requesting housing for Thursday/ and or Sunday nights. For hotel
accomodations we recommend the Ramada Inn of Bethesda, Maryland at
(301)654-1000.
Transportation: If you travel by plane or train and need to be picked up let
us know.
