Subject:        Monticello High School Invitational

The 13th annual Dr. Robert J. Kaiser Debate Invitiational will be held on 
October 6-7 at Monticello High School, NY.  There will be Varsity + JV Policy 
Debate and Varsity + JV LD Debate.  There will be a semi-finals TOC Bid for 
Varsity LD! 

Regisration
    Requests for housing and entry deadlines must be received by Thursday, 
September 28, 2000. Final registration will be held between 12:00 PM and 1:30 
PM, Friday, Oct 6.  Presently there is a limit on entries due to space 
availability.  (4 teams in each team deabte division and 6 LD debaters in 
each LD Division).  Additional requests will be honored on a first come-first 
serve basis.  If additional space is available the maximum number of teams 
permitted in any one division by a school will be 8 entries.

Team Debate Topic
    NFL 2000-2001 Privacy Topic 

Varsity + JV Team Debate 
    There will be 5 preliminary rounds; 3 on friday and 2 on saturday 
morning.  We will break to octafinals.  The format is cross examination 
(8-3-5) with an 8 minute prep time.

LD Debate Topic:
    The NFL Sept-Oct 2000 Hate Speech Topic

Varsity + JV LD Debate
    There 5 preliminary rounds; 3 on friday and 2 on saturday.  We will break 
to octafinals.  TOC Bid given at semis for varsity.

Judges:
    ONE COMPETENT JUDGE FOR THE LEVEL AND STYLE OF DEBATE IS REQUIRED FOR 
EVERY:
        a:  Two switch-side debate teams.
        b:  Four LD Debaters
        A very limited hired judging pool will be available.  NO TEAM MAY 
HIRE ALL OF THEIR JUDGES. :-)  We highly encourage you to register according 
to the number of judges you can cover.  The cost of hired judges are $120 for 
2 deabte teams or 4 LD Debaters or fraction thereof.  All judges are required 
1 round past the last round of competition.  Therefore, all judges are in the 
pool for at least the first elim round of all events.  Your teams or speakers 
will risk disqualifications or additional penalty fee if not properly 
represented throughout entire tournament as they are required.

Fees
    $50- per two- team varsity unit
    $50- per two - team JV unit
    $25- per varsity LD Debater
    $25- per JV LD Debater
    $120- per hired judge/fraction thereof- no 1/2 judges can be hired
    $35 - school registration fee

All fees are assessed as of Tuesday, Oct 3. and must be paid regardless of 
changes made after the October 3 deadline.  Make checks payable for ROSE 
JOYCE TURNER.  No checks will be accepted out to "Monticello High School".  
Please note this!!!!   

Meals
    Since the tournament is tightly scheduled and there is little to find 
within walking distance of the school; we will provide dinner on Friday and 
lunch on Saturday.  Yum!  Breakfast will be available for a fee.  Our parents 
will once again be running a concession stand throughout the tournament . The 
coaches and adult judge lounge will be elaborately maintained by our parents.

Housing:  HOUSING DEADLINE THURSDAY SEPT 28, 2000
    We will offer housing for 150 contestants only.  Housing is on a first 
come, first serve basis.  We must know male and female names by thursday sept 
28, 2000.  If you are traveling a great distance and are in need of housing 
Thursday evening we will provide this.  However you must let us know NO LATER 
THAN SEPT 30TH.  Remind contestants to bring sleeping bags.
