Dear Coach/Debater,

 You are cordially invited to attend the University of Michigan
Invitational Debate Tournament, which we are hosting in Ann Arbor.  The
varsity division will take place December 1-3, 2000.  The Junior Varsity
and Novice divisions will take place December 1-2, 2000.

 This year's Varsity division is a TOC Qualifier at the Finals Level.

 Our tournament will consist of three divisions of policy debate:
varsity, junior varsity and novice.  All divisions will feature six
preliminary debates and appropriate elimination rounds.    Novice teams
are 4-person, but may be entered as switch side or non-switch side.

 FEES:  $50 per Varsity and Junior Varsity policy team, $75 per
four-person Novice team.  The tournament will provide continental
breakfast and lunch on Saturday.

HIRED JUDGING: We may be able to provide a limited amount of hired
judging at a rate of $80 per uncovered 2-person team.  The charge for an
uncovered Novice 4-person team is $150.  Please try to arrange your own
hired judging.

 HOTEL:  A block of rooms has been reserved at the Red Roof Inn South at
3505 S. State Street, 48108.  The hotel is located at the State Street
Exit (#177) of I-94.  A flat fee of $51 per room has been arranged.
Indicate that you are participating in the Michigan Debate Tournament.
Please book your reservations immediately, as availability is only
guaranteed until 11/20/00.  (734)-665-3500.

 REGISTRATION: will take place at the Red Roof Inn on Friday from 12:00
noon to 3:00 p.m.  All debates will take place on the University of
Michigan campus.

 ENTRIES:  Please enter by e-mail to: steveman@umich.edu   Please
include (1) your school name, (2) contact information such as a phone
number, (3) the first and last names of your debaters and their
division, (4) the first and last names of your judges to cover each
team.  The entry deadline is Wednesday, November 29, at 12:00 noon.
