WESTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL DEBATE
8701 PACIFIC
OMAHA NE 68114
         										(402)343-2644 )

October 30, 2001

Dear Colleague,

You and your students are cordially invited to the 2002 WESTSIDE WARRIOR INVITATIONAL to be held on Friday and Saturday, January 11th and 12th at the newly renovated Omaha Westside High School. On Sunday January 13th the Varsity Policy Division will conclude with two Tutorial Debates which will be held at the host hotel, the Holiday Inn. The tournament management as well as the school itself has been ^Órenovated^Ô. We hope to preserve the best of the old and bring you some new features. We are returning to our traditional format which will include Individual Events. Individual Events will be held on Friday only and novice Lincoln-Douglas will be on Saturday only. In addition, on Saturday we will have Student Congress again this year. All other debate divisions will be two day events with the Sunday Tutorials in Varsity Policy. Please check tournament information contained within to avoid confusion. Individual Events and Lincoln-Douglas will be held at Westside Middle School ( 8601 Arbor ) which is located one-half mile from Westside High School ( 8701 Pacific ). We will hold all rounds of policy debate at the high school. Registration for all divisions will be at Westside High School.
Last year we played host to debaters and speakers from thirteen states. We anticipate an even more geographically diverse field of entrants this year. Please try to be with us in January. If you have any questions please call me at school - 402-343-2644 or at home - 402-553-1641. Our FAX # is 402-343-2608.
The University of Kentucky Tournament of Champions has designated the Warrior Invitational as a TOC qualifier at quarterfinals in both policy and L-D.
We will again honor two members of the debate community with the Dr. Walter Ulrich Award for contributions to forensic education through judging. Dr. Walter Ulrich was one of the most esteemed educators and scholars in the field of argumentation and debate. Dr. Ulrich^Òs scholarly and pedagogical contributions to the activity are measureless. We will give awards in both policy and Lincoln-Douglas debate. These awards will be given at our awards assembly on Saturday. Yours truly,

Colleen Richardson Director of Forensics Westside High School crichardson@westside66.org
