Dear Debaters and Coaches:

Manchester Essex Regional High School is pleased to invite
you and your students to our twenty-sixth annual debate tournament on
Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25, 2003. Please note for calendar planning
that our date is one week after Bronx and one week before Bergenfield.
The tournament will offer varsity and novice competition in policy debate
and varsity competition in Lincoln-Douglas debate. If early registrations
warrant, we will also offer Ted Turner debate for no more than two teams
from each school. We will provide the best judging possible in both
divisions, drawing from former debaters in the Boston area.  The
tournament will be run with administrative accuracy, on-time performance,
and some great food and entertainment.

We are pleased to announce that this year, the National
Tournament of Champions has designated Manchester as a qualifier in
Lincoln Douglas at the quarterfinal level.

Based on past experience, we hope to attract over
seventy-five L-D debaters from New York, New England, and the
Mid-Atlantic states.  In recent years, the varsity divisions have been
highly competitive.  They will run five preliminary rounds, and clear to
octofinals, unless ninety teams enter, in which case double-octofinals
will be held.  Because we will be using two schools, we will certainly be
able to hold a tournament large enough to easily accommodate all teams in
each division.

INVITATIONAL INFORMATION:

DATE:  Friday and Saturday, October 24 & 25, 2003

REGISTRATION:  Registration should be received by Oct. 17.  There will be

in L-D and policy.  We regret that we cannot hire fractions of judges.
