Subject: [CX-L] St. Mark's Tournament announcements
Greetings,
A number of announcements regarding the tournament:
1) It will be held October 22-4, 2004
2) All LD rounds will be held at the Sheraton. The Sheraton is right
across the street from the Westin. We did this to improve both the
quality of debating space and to accommodate growing interest in the
tournament. All hospitality for LD coaches and judges will be provided
there. The new space will allow us to accept more than two
entries/school. If you wish to enter more than two debaters, however,
you MUST provide a judge for anyone beyond two. We do not have that many
judges to hire.
3) Congress has been added to IE. All of the IE events, and Congress,
will be held at Highland Park
4) There will be a 9 team novice round robin. Entries are limited to
teams from schools that have not competed in policy at St. Mark's in the
last five years or who are part of programs that are less than five years
old. If interested, reply to this email.
5) The sophmore hoe-down will be held.
6) The policy tournament will be limited to 1 team per school for the
first 100 teams.
Approximately 30 other additional teams will be selected solely based on
last year's competitive records. There is no per school team limit on
the additional 30 - just the best additional 30. Decisions on the
additional 30 will be made by September 15th.
7) A public forum/Ted Turner division will be offered as well.
8) A website for entries will be available in two weeks. I'll post when
it is available
9) All the hospitality and college program will continue as well.
10) The tournament hotel is the Westin. The room rate is $83
single/quad. You can make reservations by calling 1-800-westin1.
