THE WESTMINSTER WOODRUFF DEBATES
October 29-30,2004

Dear Coach,

The Westminster Schools invites you to attend the George Woodruff
Tournament to be held on October 29-30,2004. The tournament will offer
Open divisions in Policy and Lincoln Douglas debate (due to small
entries we will no longer be hosting IEs). Entries must be received on
or before October 15. A web address will be posted soon that will take
all entries. Our final round in policy debate is a TOC qualifier. We
are dedicated to providing top level judging from local colleges (with
strikes) and a professional tab room. Limited housing will be available
for out of town guests, all food for judges is provided, and a luncheon
on Saturday for students will also be included. Our goal is to expand
the size of the tournament and host a top quality national event.
Please contact Jenny Heidt at jennyaheidt@aol.com with any questions.

We hope that you will be able to join us in Atlanta for the
tournament!

Sincerely,

Jenny Heidt Eric Brannen	Jere Link David

PROCEDURAL ITEMS

ENTRY & REGISTRATION: E-mail jennyaheidt@aol.com with questions but
please use the web page for your entries.

LAST MINUTE CHANGES:
Call Jenny Heidt's cell phone at (404) 931-2183 with any changes or
requests on Friday.

JUDGE STRIKES:
The tab room will try to maximize the number of strikes based on
entries. Strikes may not go into effect until round three. Strikes
will also be used for out rounds if at all possible.

PAYMENT:
Make checks payable to: The Westminster Schools. Registration is
considered final for the calculation of fees on Monday, October 25, 4:00
p.m. All fees should be paid at registration. Cancellations will be
billed to your school.

JUDGING: You are encouraged bring judges to cover your obligation.
Given that it is meant to be a varsity division, please bring judges who
have experience in their event. One judge that is full time covers two
policy teams or four LD debaters. Full time means that they will be
available for all five prelims and quarter-finals, or one round past the
last out round debated by your squad, whichever comes later. We cannot
split judges between events. Requests for hired judges must be received
no later than October 15.

TIMELINESS:
Please do not be late for registration or your rounds. We want to have
excellent competition but also want to conclude at a reasonable time.
If you are late for registration or other rounds, your teams will have
to forfeit that round (although we will add them in for the next one).

LODGING:
Marriott Fairfield Inn (very close to campus)--(770) 435-4500.
Some housing will be available for out of guests but please contact
Jenny Heidt as soon as possible with requests.

MEALS:
Your entry fee includes the Saturday Awards Banquet; food will be
available for sale at other times.
