Dear Debate Community:
Godwin High School in Richmond, VA would like to announce its first annual
Eagle Classic. The tournament will be on December 5-6 (Friday and
Saturday). We will offer Varsity Switch-side and Novice Four-person
(straight side), as well as both Novice and Varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate
(using the November-December LD resolution). We might be able to allow
incomplete straight-side teams (teams with only the Aff or Neg part) to
enter but if you plan to enter like this, PLEASE let us know as soon as
possible. The policy format will be the standard 8-3-5 with 8 minutes of
prep time.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Tuesday, November 25. All fees will be assessed as of
10:00 AM on Monday, December 1.
Schools must provide a qualified judge for every four policy debaters and
for every two LD debaters. High school debaters with at least eight rounds
of varsity competition experience in the appropriate type of debate
(Policy/LD) may judge the novice division. A limited number of experienced
college debaters, and former college debaters will be available to judge
for hire. Hired judges must be requested be Nov. 25.
In order to allow us to adhere to our schedule, we encourage participants
to remain on campus during tournament hours. Food will be sold in the
school commons for Friday dinner (Subway subs), and Saturday lunch
(Dominoes Pizza). Please note that we will not be able to provide a
vegetarian alternative for Friday dinner, so if you do not eat meat, please
plan accordingly and bring food for dinner. In addition, doughnuts will be
sold on Saturday morning, and snacks and beverages will be available for
purchase throughout the tournament. Complimentary coffee and doughnuts
will be provided for coaches and judges on Saturday.
If you have any questions, please email Scott Luchetti
