Dear coaches, debaters and friends,
The second annual Patrick Henry "Patriot Invitational" Debate and Speech
Tournament will be held in Roanoke, Virginia, on Friday and Saturday, Oct.
17-18. We sincerely hope you will attend.
The tournament will offer varsity (open) and novice (first year) levels of
competition in team debate, L-D debate, original oratory, extemp, H.I.,
D.I., and Duo Interp. The schedule is structured to allow double entries
between debate events and speech events. Coming early in the season, it is
hoped that this approach will help students find their niche and gain
valuable experience.
Last year's team debate winners were from Miami Killian and the forensics
sweep stakes winners were from Abingdon VA.
The tournament is held during the peak of autumn in the Blue Ridge
Mountains. Roanoke is accessible by the Blue Ridge Parkway, Interstate 81,
and a major new airport served by most of the big carriers. The tournament
also offers lavish hospitality for students, coaches and guest judges
alike, and provides free hous ing for competitors who respond in a timely
manner.
