Ms. Boyd,
Could you do us a big favor and post this onto CX-L? We're hosting a
novice tournament in April and we're really trying to get a lot of teams
from across the nation. I know you have a busy schedule in April but of
course the invitation is extended to Grapevine as well.

Thanks,
Little Rock Central

Dear Coach:
Is your team bored? Are your debaters tired of going to a tournament,
debating 3 or 4 rounds, and then going home? Are your novices sad
because they won^Òt debate again until October? Are you
clueless about what to do between the March tournaments and States? Are
your champs tired of judging nothing but practice rounds? Don^Òt you
just love sitting in the coaches^Ò lounge with free Diet Coke and potato
chips? Has it been awhile since you^Òve taken a big trip? Most
importantly, do you feel the need to subject your kids to debating in a
school that has four floors and no elevator? If you answered "yes" to
any of those questions (and even if you didn^Òt) then we have the perfect
idea for you. The Little Rock Central High Debate Team would like to
invite you to its 1st ever Novice Debate Classic, to be held on
Saturday, April 10th, 1999 at historic Little Rock Central High School
in Little Rock, AR. We want to prepare and educate novices across the
state (and nation) for their final tournaments of the year, and to do
that we will offer 6 rounds of novice policy and LD debate, 3
affirmative, 3 negative. THERE WILL BE BREAK ROUNDS. YOUR
CHAMP/VARSITY DEBATERS WILL BE ALLOWED (AND ARE ENCOURAGED TO) JUDGE.
We do require 1 judge for every 2 policy teams and 1 judge for every 3
LD debaters. Entries will only be limited by space and we can
accommodate as many as 150 (maybe even more) debaters. Trophies will be
given in LD and policy debate to the top 10 teams and medals to the top
5 speakers in policy debate. Awards are subject to change depending on
the number of entries. Certificates will be given out to those with
excellent/superior speaker points and records. Food and other goodies
will be provided (for a small fee, of course). We hope to have a
diverse group of teams from across the state and nation. For more
information or for an invitation contact us at (501) 324-2300 or e-mail
us at lrchdebate@hotmail.com. Deadline for entries is 1:00 PM on April
5th.

Sincerley,
Melinda Kalb Beith
