 Dear Friends.
 
 You are cordially invited to attend the tenth annual Georgetown Day High 
School Debate Invitational to be held on October 1-3,1999. 
 
 Format:
 We will offer seven preliminary rounds of varsity debate on  this year's 
high school resolution. The top sixteen teams will advance to elimination 
rounds. Time limits will be 8-3-5 with ten minutes prep per side. The first 
two preliminary rounds will be randomly paired high/low within brackets with 
the even rounds featuring side constraints.
 
 Entries:
 We are strictly limited to a total of 64 teams this year. If you desire to 
send more than two teams  we will try to be accomadating, but may not have as 
much flexibility as we have had in the past. In any event, please return your 
entry no later than September 17,1999. Make no definite travel arrangements 
until you have recieved confirmation of your entry.  You may register by fax 
at (301) 681-3061 or email at GDSdb8@aol.com or by regular mail. For 
questions call Jim Gentile at (301) 681-3058.
 
 Fees:
 The entry fee is $65.00 per team. In addition each school each will be 
charged a $10.00 school fee regardless of the number of teams entered. You 
may hire judges at $80.00 per 1/2 judge. 
 
 TOC: 
 Despite anything else you may have heard or read, GDS will remain a 
quarterfinal qualifier for the Tournament of Champions.
 
 Awards: 
 Awards will be presented to the top 17 teams and the top 20 individual 
speakers. 
 
 Food:
 Modestly priced fare will be availale in the school throughout the 
tournament. Participants are expected to remain on school grounds throughout 
the tournament.
 
 Housing:
 We will house students from schools outside the Washington area. Please 
indicate your housing needs as soon as possible, especially if you are 
requesting housing for Thursday and/or Sunday nights. For hotel accomodations 
we recomend the Ramada inn of  Bethesda, Maryland at (301) 654-1000. 
 
 Transportation:
 If you travel by plane or train and need to be picked up let us know.
