Subject: Northeast Debate Coaches' League
I've been asked about this group, and it might be a good idea to post the answer here.
A lot of coaches feel that the NY States Forensic League tournament isn't doing the job for the debate (both policy and LD) side of the coin. There has therefore been created a Northeast Debate Coaches' League, directed by Bill Barthelme of Bergenfield. All the northeast teams would be invited, with suitable rigamarole for qualification. This would mean that there would be an annual valedictory northeastern debate tournament that would include all our year-long competitors, e.g. the Massachusettsians, who qualify. The resulting competition would be like States, pretty much, only, one hopes, with more diverse competition at a suitably high level. The date for the first tourn!

ament has been set for 3/31-4/1, tentatively at Lakeland.
As I said, interested parties should get in touch directly with Bill.
