First of all, thanks to tournament director Warren Sprouse of Cedar Rapids
Washington High School for hosting what is always one of the finest
tournaments in the nation. Everything is taken care of in the most
professional and hospitable way at the Caucus, and as a coach, I really
appreciate that. Also, congrats to Des Moines Dowling debate coach Tim
Sheaff for being honored at the tournament, receiving the Founder's Award.
Tim has done a tremendous job coaching at Des Moines Dowling, and, as Warren
expressed, he has also done great work for debate in the state of Iowa and
in the Midwest.
Here are the results in LD. 64 competitors from 4 states took part in LD,
and the tournament broke to octafinals. The TOC bid in LD at the Caucus is
at the quarterfinals level, but 2 other students will receive bids because
they were closed out by teammates in octafinals.
They are Colin Goodson of Eagan High School in Minnesota and Anita Husen of
Edina High School in Minnesota.
