My last email contained a few errors, so here is the corrected version:

With only six competitors remaining after round 4 the tournament then went
to a single-elimination format.

3-1 Paul Varnado (Hattiesburg) def. 3-1 Vince Falconi (St. Joseph Catholic),
3-0
Round 6:
5-0 Peter Clericuzio (St. Andrew's Episcopal) byes to NFL Nationals
4-1 Alston Avritt (Clinton) def. 4-1 Paul Varnado (Hattiesburg)
I told Alan Iıd include this, as he wanted, so here goes:
At 9:03 am on 24 March 2001, Alan Henderson was the bringer of good news to
Peter as he announced that Peter had indeed gotten the bye to NFL, thereby
breaking the three-year district tournament curse.
Alston had already qualified for NFL in the house, so he vacated his slot at
Nationals for Paul.
Finally, I would like to congratulate everyone who attended, especially the
final six, for making the tournament very fun and extremely competitive.
Iıll see everyone @ the MHSAA State Championship Tournament in April.
