Subject: NFL Nationals Qualifiers
The Sagebrush District of the National Forensics League (Northern Nevada)
held its national-qualifier tournament this past weekend at Reno High School.
Here's what happened after five preliminary rounds of LD:
Reno's Anthony Menicucci (5-0) defeated Carson's Nick Sosa (4-1)
Reno's Brian Jackson (4-1) defeated Reno's Barron Ernst (4-1)
Wooster's Sean Westwood (4-1) got a bye this round
That left Reno's Anthony Menicucci as the only undefeated competitor, earning
him a bye to nationals.
Reno's Brian Jackson then defeated Wooster's Sean Westwood on a 3-0 decision.
Congratulations to Anthony, who also qualified in duo, and Brian, who will
make his third trip to nationals. Congrats also to Reno High for having 3 of
the top 5 debaters. Reno also did an outstanding job hosting the tournament
as always, despite the fact that the tournament director is nine months
pregnant and will probably go into labor any day now. The tournament was a
lot of fun.
Congrats again!
A humble observer wishing she could have competed in something besides
congress,
Julia
