On November 15, Milton Academy hosted the third annual Milton
Lincoln-Douglas Debates for the Debate Association of New England
Independent Schools and the Massachusetts Forensic League.

Milton Academy played host to 20 schools, both public and private, from 4
states.

105 debaters participated in the tournament.

The tournament is on the designated DANEIS qualifying circuit for the
World Debates to be held in Botswana in March, and so included
participation by Milton Academy students.

Advanced Division:

1st - Stephen Elliott, Milton Academy (5-0 decision in finals)
2nd - Mark Giglio, St. John's School
3rd - Liz Frieze, Milton Academy
4th - Ben Casselman, Roxbury Latin School

2nd - Liz Frieze, Milton Academy
3rd - Nicholas Johnson, Deerfield Academy

Novice Division:

1st - Derek Roller, St. John's School
2nd - Debo Aderbigbe, Milton Academy

4th - Emma Dianna, Sacred Heart High School

School Sweepstakes (determined by average win/loss record; varsity
weighted 2/3):

1st - Milton Academy
2nd - St. John's School
3rd - Sacred Heart High School

Congratulations to Milton Director of Debate Hannah Choi for a superbly
administered tournament, despite last minute drops of judges and the
departure of one school prior to round 3 which added an additional hour to
the tournament running time.
