I have noticed that no one has posted the speaker awards from the Tournament
of Champions held a week ago. The top 10 speakers were:
10- Beena Koshy--Apple Valley
9- Matt Backus--Trinity Prep
8- Victoria Fetterman--Edison
7- Steve Davis--Roosevelt
6- Jon Gegenheimer--New Orleans Jesuit
5- Ben Davidson--Vestavia Hills
4- Jude Volek--Bronx
3- Noah Grabowitz--Hendrick Hudson
2- Jessica Bailey--Apple Valley
And the top speaker of the 1999 TOC, also the Champion of the 1999 TOC was
Tom Zimpleman from Valley. Dropping High/Low, Tom had an astounding 148.5
points.
By being top speaker, Tom was presented with the Walter Ulrich traveling
trophy, a honor that is highly sought after, for Mr. Ulrich made tremendous
contributions to the debate community. Congrats to all.
