Subject: Southern Wisconsin: NFL and CFL Qualifiers

Greetings...

I am fairly certain that not too many of you could care less about these
results, but I was asked by a few people who I know subscribe to email
them this information. I don't remember all of their email addresses,
so this is just the easiest way for me to contact them. Besides, I'm
sure some deranged soul is actually interested in these, and, as Sean
O'Donnell so eloquently pointed out, is "in a state of trepidation
knowing that rural-district x's nfl districts are still unresolved."
So, here you go...

Catholic Forensics League Qualifiers
--------------------------------------------------
The Milwaukee Diocese of the NCFL held its qualifying tournament the
weekend of April 1 at Brookfield East High School in Brookfield,
Wisconsin. Results are as follows...

Lincoln Douglas Debate:
1. Bill Batterman - West Bend East High School
2. Tim Romanovich - Marquette University High School
3. Ryan Espegard - West Bend East High School
4. John Marino - Marquette University High School
Alt. Jason Fuhrman - West Bend East High School
Alt. Ian Hoch - Marquette University High School

Extemporaneous Speaking:
1. Tony Tagliavia - Marquette University High School
2. Ted Kolberg - Marquette University High School
I don't remember the other qualifiers - sorry.

National Forensics League Qualifiers
--------------------------------------------------
The Southern Wisconsin District of the NFL held its qualifying
tournament the weekend of April 8 at West Bend East High School in West
Bend, WI. After a really, really long tournament, results are as
follows...

Lincoln-Douglas Debate:
1. Bill Batterman - West Bend East High School
2. Ted Kolberg - Marquette University High School
Alt1. Ryan Espegard - West Bend East High School
Alt2. Tim Romanovich - Marquette University High School

The LD competition took 6 rounds to resolve. Bill was 6-0, Ted 5-1, and
both Ryan and Tim were 4-2. Ted's loss was to Bill, Ryan's losses to
Bill [coaches' decision] and to Ted, and Tim's losses were both to Bill.

United States Extemporaneous Speaking:
1. Tony Tagliavia - Marquette University High School
2. Greg Phillips - Cedarburg High School
Alt.'s were from Cedarburg and from Hartford, but I don't remember names
- sorry.

Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking:
1. Bill Batterman - West Bend East High School
2. Mary Ryan - Cedarburg High School
Alt1. Ted Kolberg - Marquette University High School
Alt2. Ankur Aggarwal - Marquette University High School

The extemp competitions each only needed 3 rounds to determine
qualifiers. In foreign extemp, the 2 and 3 place finishers were tied
after the three rounds, and the rank in the third round was used to
break the tie [I believe]. Ted had 1-1-1, 1-1-1 in the first two rounds
and a 3-3-5 in the third round while Mary had a 1-2-2 in the third and
final round. Thus, Mary won the tie-breaker and Ted became first
alternate.

Student Congress:
Senate:
1. Greg Phillips - Cedarburg High School
2. Steve Depies - West Bend East High School
Alt. David Brady - Marquette University High School
P.O. David Brady - Marquette University High School

The qualifiers from the two houses were Ankur Aggarwal from Marquette
University High School and B.J. Lanser from Marquette University High
School. They each were the top presiding officers as well.

 Have a nice day,
 Bill Batterman
