1.  THIS IS JUST AN EXCUSE.

If they aren't prepared to debate, that's not our fault for destroying
clash; it's theirs for not being prepared.


2.  COMPETITION ENSURES CLASH.

The counterplan provides a reason to reject the plan; it's called the net
benefit.  They can clash with it as much as they like.


3.  GROUND EQUITY IS MORE IMPORTANT.

It might have been possible to have more substantive clash if we hadn't
run the counterplan, but that's not fair to us.  There would be more
clash, but we wouldn't stand much of a chance, because the aff has
unlimited preparation time and chooses the focus of the debate.  The PIC
restores ground.
