Subject: TOC: DEADLINES AND JUDGE PHILOSOPHIES
IMPORTANT TOC DEADLINES.
Applications for both fully qualified teams as well as at-large applications must be in Lexington by Friday, March 14th, 2003, at 5:00 P.M.
You must submit the following with your application:
1) School Registration and Fee Worksheet filled out in full
2) Entry form for each team or debater filled out in full with principal signature
3) Check covering all fees. Full registration and all other fees must accompany
the registration/entry form or entries will not be accepted. Each year there are
many who ignore this requirement. If the full registration fees do no accompany
your entry and registration form, it simply will not be accepted as a fully qualfied
entry. We do not have the time to write, call, or e-mail you asking for registration
fees when you know in advance what is required. There will be no exceptions
made on this.
AT-LARGE APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE:
A $75 NON-REFUNDABLE APPLICATION FEE MUST ACCOMPANY EACH APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE PROCESSED FOR CONSIDERATION. DO NOT INCLUDE ANY ENTRY, JUDGING, OR BREAKFAST FEES WITH YOUR AT-LARGE. APPLICATIONS RECIEVED WITHOUT THE $75.00 PROCESSING FEE WILL BE RETURNED WITHOUT FURTHER CONSIDERATION. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO "PROMISES" THAT THE FEE WILL BE PAID LATER.
JUDGING PHILOSOPHIES REQUIRED BY ALL JUDGES ONLINE.
JUDGING PHILOSOPHIES MUST BE ENTERED ONLINE.
We're are switching from the old system of distributing the philosophies at the tournament to having each judge to post their philosophy online. If a school hires a judge, the director of debate for that school is responsible for ensuring that this occurs. PLEASE NOTE: A one hundred dollar fine will be levied on each school that does not comply with the posting of judge philosophies.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSTING JUDGE PHILOSOPHIES ONLINE.
1. Open your web browser and visit http://www.thendca.com
2. On the left hand panel, colored light green, navigate through the ^\Judge Philosophies^] link.
3. In the main window, choose which division you wish to submit your philosophy for (CX and/or LD) and navigate through the appropriate link.
4. Fill out the form on the page that appears. If you already have a philosophy in Microsoft Word, or some other format, you can cut and paste it into the box. Please, avoid using hard returns when typing your philosophy, unless you are planning to separate sections as the wrapping in the box is automatic.
Raaid Ahmad, Co-Webmaster of the NDCA, requests that you start sending these immedaitalty. He says "I have finals around the weekend of TOC, and posting/formatting these philosophies is a large time commitment and with a huge influx of philosophies I am expecting the week before the TOC, I believe that I may be overwhelmed. So please, for my sake, I would appreciate it if you would submit your philosophies sooner rather than later if you plan on judging at the TOC."
Sincerely,
JW Patterson
TOC Director and Founder.
