Subject: At Large Applications and Fully Qualified Entry Deadlines
TO APPLY FOR A TOC AT-LARGE OR NOT TO APPLY?
I have been receiving numerous inquiries requesting that I give an opinion
on the chances of at- large bids for the TOC. Unfortunately, this is
something that is very difficult for me to project. The answer is based in
part on the number of spots we have open, the quality of your competition,
and the opinions of the advisory committees.
I can report the following:
1.) Thus far the number of at- large applications are only about
half of the number they have been in the past.
Thus you will probably be competing with fewer people for
the positions we do have available.
2.) In LD, I am told that several of the fully qualified people
from the state of New York will not be attending because it is the weekend
of the New York State Tournament. This should open up a few more at- large
positions should we have quality applicants.
3.) THE DEADLINE FOR APPLYING FOR AN AT LARGE IS THIS FRIDAY THE
13TH AT 4:00PM. THIS MEANS THE MATERIAL MUST BE IN LEXINGTON BY 4:00 PM.
It is our plan to complete the xeroxing of at- large bids over the weekend
following the 13th and send them priority mail to the advisory committees
on Monday.
FULLY QUALIFIED ENTRIES
Fully qualfied entries are due in Lexington by 5:00pm Friday the
13th. To be accepted the entry must be accompanied by the entry fee and
your qualifiers must have been certified by the tournament director or a
member of the TOC advisory committee's. It will be at least a week before
you receive confirmation.
PLEASE DO NOT FAX, EMAIL OR TELEPHONE YOUR ENTRY!!!!!!!! WE ENCOURAGE
EITHER PRIORITY OR NEXT DAY MAIL WITH THE US POST OFFICE, UPS OR FEDERAL
EXPRESS.
Sincerely,
JW Patterson
TOC Director
