Subject: TOC: Acknowledgments: Fully Qualified and At-Large; Patterson's
WHEN WILL FULLY QUALIFIED TOC APPLICANTS BE NOTIFIED?
I am receiving countless e-mails and telephone calls raising
questions about when TOC
applications will be acknowledged. THE ANSWER: Beginning next week, we
will start
mailing acceptances to fully qualified enteries. We have deliberately
delayed this mailing until
after we have processed the TOC at-large applications and until we are sure
we can
accomodate all applicants with two " legs." Responses will be sent by U.S.
mails to those who
have properly filled out their applications and paid their fees. Responses
will be witheldd for
people who are using tournaments whose results have not been certified.
WHO TO CONTACT ABOUT ROUTINE TOC MATTERS?
All inquiries concerning receipt of applications, at-large bids,
fees, etc. should be
directed to the TOC registrar, Linda Barker. Ms. Barker can be reached at
the following places.

Ms. Barker can be reached in the debate office between 9 a.m. and 1
p.m. On
extreme urgent matters, you can contact her at her home, but only if it is
something that

WHEN PATTERSON WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AND WHEN YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ONLY HE
CAN ANSWER
First, I should tell you that I will not be in Lexington on the
dates listed below:
1. March 13,14,15
2. March 19,20,21,22
3. March 25 through March 31
4. April 2 through April 6
If you have a question that you think only I can answer, you should
call Linda and
she can tell you how to get in touch with me when I am out of Lexington.
She will have both
fax and hotel numbers . Since part of this time I will be at debate
tournaments,
including NDT, you need to leave messages for me telling me when to return
your call.
WHEN WILL AT-LARGE APPLICANTS BE NOTIFIED
Members of the TOC advisory committee have been asked to have their
at-large
rankings in Lexington by March 23. Once we have tallied the results, we
will begin notifying
people of the outcome. We will have three types of notices:
1. Those who are definitely in the tournament
2. Those who have been placed on hold
3. Those who have been denied entry.
