SPECIAL AIRLINE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
The University of Kentucky Debate Council has made arrangements with Delta
Airlines for special
fares to and from the Tournament of Champions. Delta is offering a 10%
discount off all
published fares, including Supersave Fares, if tickets are purchased 60
days or more before
travel. Delta is offering a 5% discount if tickets are purchased less than
60 days before travel.
No discounts apply on Delta Express flights. To take advantage of Delta's
services call or have
your travel agent call 1-800-241-6760 between 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. EST
Monday through
Friday and between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. EST Saturday and Sunday. YOU

application form, please

Please do not e-mail me for applications, I will be out of Lexington so
much of the time
between now and tournament time, it is likely to get lost in the shuffle.

ANNOUNCEMENT #3
DEADLINES FOR FULLY QUALIFIED ENTRIES AND AT-LARGE APPLICATIONS
Fully qualified enteries and at-large applications must be in Lexington(and
not postmarked) no
later than Friday, March 13, at 5 p.m. EST. ENTRIES AND AT-LARGE
APPLICATIONS MUST BE
ACCOMPANIED BY THE FEES. PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO E-MAIL YOU ENTRY
OR APPLICATION
TO ME OR LINDA. EITHER FAX OR PRIORITY MAIL IT(OBVIOUSLY ONE DAY MAIL IF
YOU ARE DOWN TO
THE WIRE).
At-Large applications will go out to the application committee within 48
hours of their arrival.
It is our hope than we can notify at-large applicants of the status of
their application before
April 1.
ANNOUNCEMENT #4
AT-LARGE QUALIFICATION ENTRY INFORMATION
If there are fewer than seventy fully-qualified enteries in an event,
additional enteries will be
admitted into the Tournament on space-available basis. Eligible at-large
applications must meet
the following minimum criteria and the Tournament Director will accept the
most qualified
applicants to fill the field:
The at-large applicant(s) must have earned a 60% or greater
win-loss percentage at
all tournaments attended during the 1997-98 debate season.
The at-large applicant(s) must earn the TOC Advisory Committee's
recommendation.
The at-large applicant(s) must be accepted by the TOC Tournament
Director.
FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT
We still have several TOC qualifying tournments that have not certified the
qualifying results.
Linda has been instructed to return TOC enteries that are using
non-certified tournaments for
their bids. We have made numerous appeals, but still don't have all the
results.
